Photos from the NEACE 2010 Event at the Warwick Center in New York hosted by our RCA friends.

The key note speakers were Rev. Dr. Cliff Kirkpatrick, President of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches and currently a Professor at Louisville Presbyterian Seminary; Dr. Oliver Patterson, Elder, who has served on the WARC Executive Committee and is the current Director of the Covenanting for Educational Justice Institute and Rev. Richard C. Witt, the Executive Director of Rural and Migrant Ministry in New York State.

The theme was based upon Micah 6:8 and Jesus’ “defining moment” in Luke 4:16-23. We took a close look at both the Belhar and ACCRA Confessions and discussed ways to make a local congregational connection. The conversations were lively and thoughtful and it culminated in a hands on art project led by three high school aged youth and their professional muralist leader, Andres Chamarro, who is Coordinator of the Youth Art Group of the Rural and Migrant Ministry.

The photos detail the creation of the parts of the angel that will be assembled to match the black and white sketch. The angel of protection will stand outside one of the farm workers union offices. Two banners were painted that will be used in a farm workers rights march in Albany later this spring.

We ended the event with a service of worship with communion that wove together the key points of the two confessions with the Biblical passages in a meaningful way.

Our guest musicians for the three day event was the Korean Worship Team from the New Hope Reformed Church in Yonkers, New York.
